I don't think they believe it, but I think they vividly remember Kim Jong-Un executing his uncle with an anti-aircraft canon for "half-hearted clapping". That kind of crazy motivates people to fall in line. As for Kim Jong-Un? He probably believes his own crap; not much evidence that he has any grasp of reality.
