According to the list, there were just as many terrorist incidents in 2016 as in the last 40 years in Germany. Terrorism is terrorism, just because someone did not manage to kill anyone does not make it less severe. What if that guy in Ansbach was successful and managed to kill dozens of people, is it now worth mentioning because there is a body count?

I'm not trying to be abrasive or suggest everyone should hide in a bunker in fear of a terrorist attack but we shouldn't internalize these things as normal.

I would recommend people reading the European Union Terrorism Situation Trend 2015 and 2016 reports. They offer statistics like number of arrests and attacks of jihadi, left-wing, right-wing, ethno-centric terrorists.

One thing that stuck out to me was the titling of Chapter 2. In the 2015, it was titled "Religiously Inspired Terrorism", but the title in the 2016 report is "Jihadist Terrorism".

In 2014, total arrests and attacks were 774 and 199, respectively. 395 of the 774 arrests (51%) were done on religiously inspired terrorists. In 2015, total arrests and attacks were 1077 and 211, respectively. 687 of the 1077 arrests (63.7%) were done on religiously inspired terrorists/jihadists. France had it the worst, doubling from 188 arrests to 377 arrests.

What I don't get is why the EU doesn't act upon this. The  facts are presented, now it's time to see what to do.
