Big western games sure, but we already have Sonic 2017 confirmed, and maybe Square will bring some of it's big guns over.

Yep Nintendo done fucked up, but that doesn't make it any less true. The NES/SNES days where they had all the third party by default are long gone. Now they'd have to work for it, and a powerful console alone isn't even half the battle, as Wii U didn't even get PS3/360 ports. To be known for third party games they would need to go out of their way making games that appeal to the same audiences third party games do like Sony and Microsoft to ensure that they have people who'll buy these games on their platform. Needless to say, that's never gonna happen, so Nintendo will never again be known for having third party (unless Sony/Microsoft explode). Definitely not ideal, but not the end of the world either. Nintendo just has to accept that reality and roll with it.

Why though? I mean, if you just want third party, there's already plenty of systems for that, I don't see why Nintendo absolutely has to be yet another.

Ive seen quite a few people complain about Nintendo not making a console that will get 3rd party support. I would like to think that these are all people who are for Nintendo going 3rd party because what they are asking for is basically a PS4 with Nintendo games.

And yeah Nintendo cant just make a PS4 and magically start recieving the same 3rd party support.
