I am sorry to hear about what happend to your uncle, but have you considered that you may not capable of being impartial because of what happened to you? It is understandable. The boy sitting on the ground does not, however, deserve to die simply because of what happened to you. Nor should the either party be cleared of any wrongdoing simply because folks wish it so. I only asked you to concede that shooting unarmed people is wrong. You would not. Then I pressed you to only admit that the cop shot an unarmed man. You reclutently did both, but you struggle with needing it to be justified. No one has claimed to have the full story. We are only commenting on what we know. No one will ever need to pass your test in order to earn the right not to be shot. Plus its plain crazy to say that it may be justifiable pending investigation that the caretaker was shot. Thats nuts. That you can't even 'judge' that on your own scares the hell out of me. Just waiting for that big twist to this story that isn't going to come. In just the same way you're ideas of the world are shaped by your frame of reference, so too are they for everyone else. If you are afraid of people because of what happened to you in the past then you would make a poor cop as well. Unchecked fear is what is holding us back. It puts my life at risk because of your unprovoked fear. I would like to add that I hope your family got justice for your uncle. |
Anything that happens to us can impact on our judgment and no one is ever impartial in anything, that is where opinion comes from. And where do I say the boy deserves to die... nowhere. Or where did I say the shooter needs to be cleared... nowhere as well. All I said is that I won't judge untill more investigation is done.
I didn't reluctently conceded anything. I never denied that shooting someone unarmed is wrong. But if you don't know the history you don't even know if the person was armed before, showed any risk to others, you literally know nothing, but want to pass judgement on what you think you know. And that kind of knee jerk reaction already costed a lot of lifes. Including in Brazil a case of a woman that looked alike another that was being prosecuted by molesting child, the woman was beat to death because people on the street though it was the same person (besides similar cases of hoax accusations).
I'm not afraid of it. You are putting a lot of words and yourself in me that aren't even close to reality.
The guys that done it were arrested, the coleagues of my uncle asked my mother if they should kill them, my mother said just to give them to court were they would answer criminaly instead of taking out the child of another mother.
