OLED phones are great, as is the OLED Vita.

But I would wait on the TV. Sony makes their own OLEDs, and could actually release them cheaper than LG could. But they don't, because the technology isn't ready yet (and might never be). LG is jumping the gun and sacrificing a lot to do OLED, not to mention virtue of being LG ruins things, too (bad processor, bad upscaling, bad noise algorithms).

If you call Sony and ask them why they don't make an OLED, they'll tell you they do. It's a 32" monitor with the most perfect color and input lag. It also costs $30000 and the half-life on its blue is 6 months. OLED isn't ready, and the fact that Sony and Samsung aren't doing it should really drive the issue home.

I'm hoping my Panasonic Plasmas will last me long enough for OLED to mature aa fair bit more yet.

I understand from the manufacturers not doing OLED though, is more down to they can't make the sets at a price they want to sell them at and are not bothering at all. I'd heard that the Panasonic configuration of the LG OLEDs was actually a pretty good leap forwards. Like you say though the technology needs a bit more time to be at it's best. But OP isn't looking for right this second, and I'd expect the next batch of OLEDs to resolve most of their current issues.
