I'm just so used to seeing American companies suing each other that I immediately assumed it was an American company suing the developers of No Man's Sky

Beyond them not being American, I actually don't see the issue with a company getting a patent or trademark for an algorithm.

Is it even worth it?

Imagine all the issues you'd stumble upon for patenting an algorithm. Sounds like a way to get headaches
