It happened with the Wii, and it happened with the N64. It also would happen if Nintendo tries replicating their handheld success on home consoles. The nature of the home console market is so different, that they have to play by certain rules to guarantee their acceptance by partners and by the industry as a whole. With userbase, the reason greatly diminishes. The Wii had some of the best third party support since the NES, SNES days.
