Race has more to do with categorization of humans based on physical (and sometimes genetic) characteristics that are common in one group, but not the other. The biological defintion of a race (also known as subspecies) is a genetically distinct population of interbreeding individuals within a species. This cannot be applied to Muslims because the definition of what a Muslim is is not based on genetic distinction or distinct phenotypes.

Exactly. Most Muslims are Caucasian, and in fact are considered white legally in the US (well Middle Easterns). You can be middle eastern and Christan, or an irishman and muslim.
