Either the cop mis-fired which proves incompetence in the line of duty, or the officer meant to fire at the Autistic man whom he may have perceived as a threat and missed enough to hit the guy laying on the ground. There was only one shot and the officer is claiming it was accidental and luckily did not hit any vitals so I highly doubt that race had anything whatsoever to do with this situation. However, both likely possibilities from above are bad and at the very minimum the officer deserves a long suspension with community service. At most he deserves to lose his job with a short sentence in prison for negligence. I know people are calling for jail time but that is not very reasonable when if this incident were to happen between two other individuals with no police involvement it would likely be seen as accidental and end in no more than a slap on the wrist. |
The gun should not be out
It should not be raised
Especially at people who posed no initial threat.
We should not even need to consider your top sentence.
