And the chibi models might scare me into not buying the game.

Completely disagree.  I wish they would stick with only the Chibi look, instead of switching between them and the KH-like models.  Pick an art style and stick with it.  And personally, the Chibi is the better, more unique (for a FF game, anyway) of the two.
