I know a lot of Corbyn supporters. Their heart seems to be in the right place, but they seem a little bit detached from the reality of how things work and why his policies would most likely be devastating all around. (Just a generalisation from the ones I am friends with/talk to).
There are certainly some ugly factions in his fanbase. But overall I think his support is people who want idealism without having to personally sacrifice anything. Champagne socialists would sum up the ones I know. |
Unfortunately, misguided idealism without sacrifice is so prominent in politics that it often clouds more practical ideas and creates a deadlock where nothing gets done for years. It's ironic that people want change, sometimes even radical change, but not change in my backyard.
