This actually happened to one of my friends that I used game with mostly World of Warcraft.  He was skinny, half or full Japanese, but smoked.  He saved up to buy his PS3, told everyone at work all that it could do.  They thought it was funny, but his enthusiam was charming.

Finally the Friday came, he got his PS3 with God of War (I think.)  He proceeded it to play intensely over the weekend.  On Sunday he walked into his family and said he wasn't feeling well and would they take him to the hospital. I understand they worked on him a long time, but could not save him.  It's not clear, but I think it was a heart attack or something from not getting up and moving around (can also get blood clots and other things.)

It was really just sad.  He was very shy, but a super nice guy.
