And no, income inequality isnt the only measure, wealth inequality is a better measure which you will also find the USA performs near the bottom, all this is often the result of systemic inequality in many areas, The US also does poorly in many other forms of inequality some of which I listed in a previous post

I would say the bar to comfortable living is a lot lower than the top percentage of income in America. America does a lot for their poor population, it just is also one of the biggest captialist countries in the world, so that 'inequal' pay gap is to be expected.
