When the sci-fi colony sim RimWorld debuted on Steam Early Access last week, developer Tynan Sylvester asked—gently—that anyone looking to buy it do so directly from the Ludeon Studios website. “This way, we get significantly more of the money, since Steam isn’t taking their cut,” he wrote. “You can still immediately grab your Steam key and put the game on your Steam account.”

If you play Hearthstone regularly, you’ll be able to recognise the feeling when you’ve had exactly enough of the current meta. For me, it was queuing into five straight Shaman decks, all of which opened with Tunnel Trogg into Totem Golem or coined Feral Spirt. So, it’s nice to see signs that Blizzard is about to announce the next adventure mode. For those who don’t play regularly, these are the snack-sized expansions, like Curse of Naxxramas and League of Explorers, which appear between the big card sets.

Telltale Games has announced that “Access Denied,” the seventh episode of the five-part Minecraft: Story Mode adventure that concluded in chapter four, will be out on July 26. In it, Jesse and his pals continue their search for a portal home—but not before they free the people enslaved by the sinister “thinking machine” named PAMA.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT'S "PRE-EXPANSION PATCH" GOES LIVE TOMORROW

The new “pre-expansion patch” for World of Warcraft, which will get the game ready for the launch of Legion, will be out on July 19. Holy cow, that's tomorrow! Blizzard said the patch will incorporate “a wide variety of features and content... including system changes, quality-of-life improvements, and major in-game events,” some of it available immediately, and some you'll have to wait for.

 

OBSIDIAN CEO: “I’D LOVE TO TURN ETERNITY INTO MORE LIKE A SKYRIM PRODUCT”

Although not officially announced as yet, work on the sequel to Obsidian’s charming and wonderful crowdfunded role-player Pillars of Eternity was all but confirmed back in May, when the company’s CEO Feargus Urquhart suggested it “seems silly” not to acknowledge the project’s existence. In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, Urquhart now says the developer is “starting to move forward on Pillars of Eternity 2,” and that making a 3D action-RPG—similar to Skyrim but within the Pillars universe—is something he’d love to do down the line.
