The problem is equality in attaining the same skillsets. People should have an equal opportunity to receive good education. But this is more of an economic/class issue than a diversity one.

For race its mostly random chance and circumstances outside companies' control, yes.  With women, another posibility is maybe women in general have a lower number per capita who WANT to work in the tech industry?  Men and Women are equal, but not the same.
