I also don't know. It's so long ago and I was so young that I'm not sure how it all started. There's multiple for contenders for what my first ever game was, and there's also multiple for a question like your's.
Thinking about I would however lean a bit towards SimTower, as the game that gave the definitive push, but that had to have been years after I had already been casually playing games as a child.
