I think he's right. Most people can't finish their games because they are too long. I prefer short games (around 4 hours maximum) and I welcome this change. I can't imagine how an adult have time to finish a 60 hours-long game.

You take your time. Took me 2 months to play through Uncharted 4.

If a game is good it doesn't matter if it's long. Padding the length is what kills it when you don't have that much time to play. I was annoyed at TW3 by the end, still finished it yet was wishing for it to be over. Too much padding, the pace of the baron quest line was the best part of the game.
Instead of difficulty levels, perhaps there should be a fluff level setting. A target time you can choose that works like different cuts of a movie. Shortest version, accelerated leveling, remove all unnecesary side quests and poi, simplefied inventory management. Longest version, slower leveling, wear and tear, ingredients spoil, fatigue, procedural optional quests and replenishing poi. Even Uncharted 4 could use different settings, a target kill count for example. I would have been happy with a lot less fighting, yet others might want less platforming.

It's kinda baffling that after 30 years we're still stuck with the most basic difficulty levels to choose from. ME3 had story and RPG mode, yet the only difference is that story mode makes the dialogue choices for you. TW3 has "just the story" too which only makes the game piss easy. No condensed anything. At least GTA 5 was nice enough to let me skip parts I didn't like. Another tedious shoot out, jump off the building 3 times and skip to the next part of the mission. Very much appreciated it let me play Grand Theft Auto and skip Grand Theft Gun.

Btw, shorter movies? Is he crazy. I hardly ever watch a movie in a single sitting anymore, no need, ever heard of resume play Kojima? 2 hours is already on the short side to tell a decent story.

W3 is short, take away the repetitive side missions and can be done in 20-30 hours.
