He is wrong, thankfully. But dont get me wrong. There are games that are better for being shorter, the same way that are games that are better for being longer(and having longer play sessions).RPGs in general benefit from that, because they are generally complex and as such require more time. And as all in the game industry, there will always be audience for both types of games.I mean, there are countless proofs for that.Witcher 3, Fallout 4, FE Fates, Bloodborne, Dark Souls games in general, and many many more. But at the same time, there is also alot of proof that shorter games also has great appeal.Uncharted 4, Splatoon, Mario Maker, Until Dawn, Rocket League, and so on.
So no, the industry is not heading to shorter games, both in size and play sessions. The game industry is actually heading for a more diverse catalogue of games, games that have different sizes and shapes, more than ever.I mean, Rocket League is a football game with cars for gods sake.If that dosent show that any kind of game sells as long as its good, I dont know what does.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
