Are Sony or MS capable of creating a cultural phenomenon like Pokemon Go?

its hardly complicated why people like Pokemon, its a game about capturing wild animals that have special abilities and are cute and cool looking, battling with other people, fighting in tournaments. I think you're deliberately pretending to not understand why people like it rather than exploring why YOU don't like it

none of that is compelling to me. I find that entire franchise childish, mindless and absolutely boring. And yes I did try playing a bit of the old games as well as watch a couple of episodes of the anime just to understand why it was so popular.

if people like it, good, more power to them. it just has 0 appeal to me personally.

it was most probably targeting kids younger than me when it came out, so there might be a nostalgia factor to it that just eludes me completely.
