Thousands of drug dealers and drug addicts are now surrendering to the police just a week after President Duterte has been inaugarated.

Wow, that's impressive. I suppose when you surround a certain group of people with predators looking for awards, they're going to start turning themselves in to save their skins.

It's a brutal regime, but if this is true... It's hard to argue with results like that. I'd like to see the numbers on surrenders vs executions, because if the number of surrenders outnumber executions by a large enough number... Hmm.

Quite effective, of not barbaric.

If there's money to be made, then people will always find a way. Drugdealers will not dissapear completely, hell no.

However, when enough of them have been killed, what will be the next crime that calls for civilians to murder? Alcohol? Driving too fast? Stealing? Wearing the wrong clothes, following the "wrong" religion? And when the bodies are piling up, and the streets are filled with blood, then what? How little would it take for someone to kill for themselves? I mean, why not, killing is not only justified and normal, its even encouraged. Its insanity. Its why every civilized country gives the police a violence monopoly.
