Nintendo having all their games available everywhere a better business than restricting them to a console?

79% Less sales, and that's all due to the WiiU. Nintendo screwed up and gimped their software potentially MASSIVELY. Some truly phenomenal games on the system that have been held back by a completely unappealing system.

Most of those Mario Kart Wii owners are playing on mobile devices, and not on PS4/XBO/PC.

PS4 and XBO are much more successful than the Wii U, but the audience for family friendly/cartoony games is not on these platforms. Stuff like Sonic Racing Transformed and Shovel Knight (retail version had simultaneous release) still sold better on the Wii U terrible install base than on Sony/MS platforms... I really doubt Mario Kart would sell 25 million on PS4/XBO/PC.
