True but if you want an even larger irony you need to talk about the US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

Backstory : In 2001 the Taliban banned opium production in Afghanistan, easily visible in the chart below.After the US invaded and removed the taliban from power opium production was restored and has since soared to record levels.Anyone putting two and two together yet?

it's Afghanistan's only natural resource and pretty much it's entire economy depends on opium. i'm not seeing what you're trying to reach here
