I've abused save states before on emulators and Virtual Console games, the final boss in Megaman 7 being one of my worst offenses.

I've also had rage moments in games that don't auto-save. I have a habit of not saving for long periods of time, as I find it can be real drag to my momentum...but that also means that sudden Game Overs can be brutal, losing 3+ hours of progress in the worst cases. I've never broken a controller somehow, but there was a time playing Persona 4 where I shouted so loud after a bull-crap Game Over that my cat bolted out of the room.
