as i get few to no shits about having the shiniest pixels i'll wait as long as i can to upgrade and keep playing on my orginal ps4 thanks to forward compatibility. ..just like i did with my iphone when i just recently upgraded from a 4 to an SE because i don't feel the need to take upgrades nearly as often as some people do.
then when i do upgrade (probably around the ps5.5) i will be thankful for a console that still plays my entire library of games on the new console instead of not being able to play them like the current norm is between console generations.
and if you are worried about having "the best" version then remember releases of a better version of tech happens pretty much daily. waiting 2.5 years won't give me "the best version" anyways because another "best" version comes out 3 years after than and again 3 years after that and again 3 years after that....
i'm not bitter or angry or sad about not always having "the best". that sounds like a personal problem for you not a problem with the new way hardware releases are going.
