I was like daaaaaaaaaaaamn, then I saw that quote in the article and said to myself, "Self ... why would a customer be privy to this kind of information?"

That number is ridiculously too high. Europe has only complained about disc scratching ( http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3160212 ). Something tells me if consoles were failing by the boatload, we'd definitely hear it from a real source.

 So far as I know that was the European commision who were investigated 360 for disc scratching. That doesn't mean to say other REAL sources haven't complained. The highly reputable UK TV program Watchdog ran a well publicised story about the 'shockingly high failure rates of 360's' and it's ongoing inadequate warranty in the region.

My friend shocked me today when he told me his battery backup memory on his Saturn didn't work, so he played this RPG several times to get all the endings, leaving the system switched on continuously for 1 1/2 weeks!  The system only turned off when they had a power cut (losing all his play) but the Saturn never missed a beat.
