Obviously this is a extreme example, but I think people need to chill on the cop crucifying. Seriously, we pay these guys crap to literally put their lives on the line for us. Everyday cops are shot and killed on duty, they need to be able to protect themselves. Not to mention that we generally only hear one side of these stories for months because of the ongoing investigation the cops can't explain themselves to the public.
Do some cops use excessive force, yes. But the vast majority are good decent guys and all this outrage makes their lives that much harder... And sooner or later... Nobody is going to want to be a cop anymore, and then where will we be?
