Someone seems to be under the assumption that if you BUY something for 2.5 million - it will always be worth that.

Ignoring that values increase, decrease, and something is worth only what OTHERS will pay for it.  Can't name any other company that would pay 2.5 billion for Minecraft.

If MS write off 2B of Minecraft on their financial books because they reavaluated the asset will he accept the 2B in loss? Have he ever heard of cost of opportunity?
