So just good games whose greatness is exaggerated? There are dozens.

Metal Gear Solid 4 - it was on its way to greatness, then got bogged down in an obscene cutscene-to-gameplay ratio

Pokemon Red/Blue - full of charm and hugely influential, but never achieves greatness

Uncharted 2 - the pinnacle of Uncharted, yes, but not the all time great it's sometimes assumed to be. It's not even the best game of 2009. Heck it's not even the best PS3 game of 2009.

Uncharted 4 - an excellent game let down in some spots by scripted sequences and overlong cutscenes

The Last of Us - a stellar game that deserves a lot of love and recognition, but not any greatest-of-all-time awards

Inside - a haunting, atmospheric puzzle platformer with a bunch of inflated scores

Portal - an ingenious puzzle game that pales in comparison to its younger brother Portal 2

Doom (2016) - a fun old-school shooter with an uneven campaign and boring multiplayer

Bastion - a colorful and creative action RPG that loses points for repetition and a focus on storytelling

That's just a sampling.
