Why Don't You Participate In Mega Threads?

The main problem I have with mega threads is because they are mega.. titles may catch your eye, but when you click to the last post, discussion may have already moved on. Since these threads are fairly active, trying to keep up to what is happening can be quite the chore, and not everyone has the time to read through the last 30 or so posts just to get up to date with what happened in one day.. And if I haven't taken a look in a thread for over a week, it's really hard to keep up

Because of the pace, sometimes posts will go unheard and it feels like I'm being left out or ignored
Or on the other hand, I may be quoted in the thread and can't find it because it's buried somewhere in the thread (hurray 10 posts per page!)
Somethings trying to post in these threads makes it feel really forced because I'm trying to contribute but don't really have anything to add to the immediate conversation, and derailing the thread with something random doesn't feel right
