Not sure why the thread this is most likely a response to was closed, yet this remains open, when we could have had this same discussion within the original. Oh well, I suppose.

@ OP

In terms of graphics, if you have the money to buy a good GPU, then yes, PC will always be superior. The recent $199 RX480 does make it more affordable to do so. But, the biggest draws to consoles are ease of use, affordability (sometimes console manufacturers forget this one ) AND exclusives you can only get on that console. Take away one of the bigger draws, exclusives, and you can see some potential consumers overlook the other two (Scorpio may not have affordability on its side, either) in favor of PC gaming, or possibly just getting a different console.

Are all gamers going to do so? Of course not. Nor did anyone imply it. It just takes the incentive to purchase a Xbox console down a few notches where fewer consumers will see it a gaming necessity. A good excercise is to imagine the NES never getting Mario Bros., or SNES launching without Super Mario World, or Genesis wasn't later bundled with Sonic. Would they have sold as well? Hell no. If they only had weak ports of PC games, with poorer controls, those consoles would not have defined gaming in the rebirth of the industry.
