When people argue that PCs can be cheaper and more powerful than their console counterparts, they're usually assuming people buy the parts on Newegg and make their own computer. Even then, it's really sketchy whether it's really possible now that the consoles are 300 dollars.

But the big thing is that people by and large don't build their own computers as it's a huge hassle as well as a huge pain in the ass and it requires expertise that most people lack (and frankly, I don't quite understand the love of building one's own PC. I would much rather spend the extra 200 dollars on a pre-built machine, but that's my preference). If you want a pre-made desktop with graphical power comparable to a console, you're going to need to spend a minimum of 750 dollars.
