Of course for 400$ a console has a better value. I think 700$ to 900$ is the sweet spot for a value-for-money PC.
The PSN / XBLA free games argument is pointless form my point of view. I've barely have the free time to play the games I want to play, let alone a bunch of random old games (which I would have probably already played if I was interested to begin with). I'm still paying for a service that is free on PC and getting something I've never asked for in return.
