I read recently that AMD has acknowledged some of the heat and power issues and have attributed to a premature driver. They are working on a update. Also, If I'm not mistaken the RX 480 is the best rated price to performance.
Just trying to give AMD a break. I'd agree that there was some misleading advertisement (and rumors didn't help it either) as I expected it to be a R9 390/GTX 970 equivalent for $240. We can say this is not the case for now. Let's see if AMD can implement some fixes.
I'm building a new PC too. I have been waiting since last year. Thought about and passed on CPUs and GPUs over time. I'm looking for something solid for 1440p around $300 (GPU); I'm sill waiting on seeing what Zen offers. What a waiting game...
