If I was an XBL subscriber I'd be pretty mad about that.

But in reality, how could Microsoft charge on the Personal Computer platform?

For Online Play? The computer customers have had it free for over a decade, so there's no chance of getting them to pay for it.

For Apps? Again, not going to work. Microsoft (nor Sony)don't have any apps exclusive to them that PC people can't already use on their computers (many in better capacity as well).

So with those two keys out of the way, How could Microsoft realistically charge for XBL on the personal computer?

I won't even get into the fact that computer gamers remember the "Games for Windows" very well and how that turned out. And W10 gaming has had a myriad of issues. Lack of access to crucial files for modding being one of many.

If they can't even get trust from the PC community, how can you expect to charge them on anything?
