I don't know why everyone bashes 1, 2 and 3. If you take them as competing with hundreds of other films, they were good films. Obviously nothing will touch the movie-equivalent-of-retro-ness of 4, 5 and 6, but the first three were well written and well made. What else do you want?
Oh, and B. It makes more sense, because actually 4, 5 and 6 make a coherent story arc and 1, 2 and 3 were sort of bolted on. They don't fit together all that well.
