No. They are mid to high average, there isn't a single world class English player right now. Keepers are particularly terrible and it hurts very much, cause this guy can destroy what the whole team has been working for. The average play isn't the problem of the national team, it's the problem of Premier League and the typical English football style - all they do is high crosses into the penalty box and pray for something to happen. People need to stop being as delusional as you are. Better soccer culture? PL is more exciting? Than what? Polish league - sure, but not the top European leagues. English football is outdated, simple, boring, uninspired and not yielding any results for years. Honestly, even comparing PL to Primera División is a joke. At this point German and Italian leagues are arguably more solid as well. That's how far behind English football has fallen behind, their clubs are getting close to the level of French and Portuguese leagues, despite all the tradition and money they pump into it. The glory days of Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea are long, long gone and the sooner people admit it and start doing something about it, the better for the league and the national team and the sooner will they bounce back. Cause the potential is obviously there, but the longer people stay in denial, the longer it'll take for anything to change.

The lack of English players playing in Europe means they aren't exposed to other styles of football and to new trends, they don't have to overcome adversities others fight and get out of their comfort zones. And should they ever get to European Cups, they get eliminated too fast to learn anything. You can't compare English players playing on English teams, that get slaughtered in European Cups, to Spanish players playing in Real and Barcelona - teams that are untouchable at times and get to the Final of Champions League all the time. Bayern and Dortmund both got to the Final of Champions League around the time they won the World Cup - I'd take players from these teams as well, but how many English players were on these two teams? Not a single one. 3 Polish players were starters in that Final and they are the core of our national team to this day - this creates the difference. English teams have nothing on these teams and English players aren't good enough to get on them, so don't be surprised that the results of the national team are average.

We currently have no "world class" players. None of that starting XI would get into the German team or the French team, or even the Spanish team. Cahill, Sterling, Sturridge and Rooney wouldn't start for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid or Juventus.

It's a cup full of poison that needs pouring out and filling up with fresh water.

Edit - Add in John Terry to that world class section too.

Finally, someone who gets it! I agree with every single word. When I look at the English team, I'd pick two of them to the starting 11 of the Polish national team. A few would enter the rotation and would be getting off the bench, but only 2 guys would become starters - and Poland is no Italy, Germany or Argentina.

Until you get English players in the top European teams, don't expect the national team to achieve anything more than 1/8 or 1/4 with luck. As usually.

 

 

PS. Fun fact - Poland is the team that's fouled the most so far in EURO and Lewandowski is the player fauled most often.
