I'm not sure I agree with this. While it is true that normally most GOTY are western games, FromSoftware has consistently combo-breaked some of those lists with Demon's, Dark and Dark Souls 2, plus Bloodborne in 2015. All those are JRPG.

Dark Souls III is likely getting awards as well, even as I don't expect it to be many of them.

 

Nah. Dark Souls 3 is an amazing game but could have been much, much better. Likewise that'll make it not get any awards.
