The 480 is basically on par with the 970 & 390, but at 100 $/€ less.
Also, the decision to go with only 32 ROPs has a negative effect at 1440p and higher resolutions.

Never, ever, buy a piece of electronics at launch. Between scalpers and stores selling them at a higher price because of the high demmand, it's always better to wait at least a couple weeks.
