OCULUS REMOVES "PLATFORM INTEGRITY CHECK" DRM

http://www.pcgamer.com/oculus-removes-platform-integrity-check-drm/

In a surprising and very quiet turnaround, Oculus VR has dropped the “platform integrity check” DRM that prevented Oculus Store apps running without an Oculus Rift headset. As noted by Motherboard, word of the change came not from Oculus, but from the maker of Revive, the hack that allows Rift-exclusive software to run on other VR platforms.

WHORE OF THE ORIENT, THE SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO LA NOIRE, ISN'T GOING TO HAPPEN

http://www.pcgamer.com/whore-of-the-orient-the-spiritual-successor-to-la-noire-isnt-going-to-happen/

It's been about four years since we last heard anything from the startlingly-named Whore of the Orient, and so a refresher is probably in order. It was being developed by Team Bondi, the studio that created LA Noire for Rockstar, and looked to be structurally similar to that game, but set in and around 1936 Shanghai, “the most corrupt and decadent city on the planet.” I thought it sounded promising, if a little risky, but now it's come to light that the project has been canceled.

In celebration of pro esports team Tempest winning the 2016 Heroes of the Storm Summer championships, Blizzard has made all of the game's heroes free until June 28. In addition to that, they've added a new bundle to the shop that includes all the heroes and skins used by Tempest in the final match.

http://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-4-to-get-new-more-multiplayer-friendly-ui/

Battlefield 4, Hardline, and the upcoming Battlefield 1 are to get new user interfaces, a post on the Battleblog reveals. This new UI has been designed to "improve the experience of playing with friends", and will allow you to "easily swap" between all three games, providing you own them.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 WON'T FEATURE QUICK-TIME EVENTS

http://www.pcgamer.com/resident-evil-7-wont-feature-quick-time-events/

I wouldn't have thought it possible after the absurdly over-the-top Resident Evil 6, but I'm really looking forward to Resi 7, which appears to be returning to the roots of the series and then some. James Davenport seemed to enjoy his time with the E3 demo, which is not part of the main game but is instead meant to act as a sort of taster sample, minus the combat and puzzles that will almost certainly be included in the main event.

STREET FIGHTER V GETS BALROG LATER THIS WEEK

http://www.pcgamer.com/street-fighter-v-gets-balrog-later-this-week/

Balrog, arguably the angriest Street Fighter to ever street fight, will join the Street Fighter V roster on July 1, Capcom announced at CEO 2016 today. It was also confirmed that Ibuki, previously confirmed in her own trailer, will roll out at the same time this Friday, as will a new cinematic story mode.

FIFA ULTIMATE TEAM MAY HAVE BEEN BUGGED SINCE 09

http://www.pcgamer.com/fifa-ultimate-team-may-have-been-bugged-since-2009/

Intrepid FIFA players have proved the existence of a bug (or hidden mechanic) that may have plagued the series since FIFA Ultimate Team was introduced in FIFA 09.

STELLARIS' ASIMOV PATCH TOUCHES DOWN

http://www.pcgamer.com/stellaris-asimov-patch-touches-down/

On a mission to spice up the mid-game, Stellaris' Asimov patch (1.2) is now live, bringing sweeping improvements. I pored over the biggest of the planned changes last week, but now we have an exhaustive changelog. Mercifully, Paradox has compressed the headlines into a handy graphic: http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/5G2jDw9hiNM2h2g3e8Yso9.jpg
