This is a zero sum game, people would make up other stories to excuse their behaviour...
In the end, I am not religious, but it comes down to freedom of thaught, people only use religion as a facade for their bigotry - and good deeds too.
So in the end, beyond not believing yourself and engaging with people who believe in a rational and open manner, try to see beyond their beliefs and who they are, how they act with their fellow humans and try to resolve that, if it causes fonclict, there is no need to even address the religious aspect directly, at least there is no need to tell anyone "stop believing" people will come to this conclusion when the time is right.
