Can you imagine a world without any religion?

I wonder how many of those wars wouldn't have been fought if religion didn't exist.  
I think more wars would happen than some here are thinking.  

Look at what's happening in the middle east.  You can probably make a good case that the root cause of these issues involve economics, foreign policy, western interventionism, and so on so forth.  A lot of people probably would want to react violently one way or another.  But without allah and islam to unify the disgruntled, justify their violence, and promise a reward, do you think the situation would be as bad as it is?
