I thought about it since, right before the Slim was announced , I bought a second Xbox One with Kinect. Here's my take:

The original still looks good, has a fuck ton of features and great games. It's good hardware, especially with Kinect. It's only $250-$300 (sometimes, less)

The Slim is $300-$400, offers 4k video, refined hardware, better form factor. Great for those who take advantage of that.

The upper echelon, high end Xbox One will offer 4k gaming and probably some unique features and refinements that gamers in need of the ultimate experience will want. I'm guessing $500 and above. Something for everyone at any budget.

Right now, after the latest update, I'm more than happy with the original Xbox One so no need to upgrade. Even the games upscaled to 1080p satisfy my current gaming needs. The size doesn't even bother me since the power supply is hidden behind the TV and the console looks pretty sleek on my shelf.
