Wow, one can feel how you enjoy this. Down to all the little details.

Very interesting to read. Thanks for all the details including your reasoning.

About cases, yes that case of yours is very nice. And mature looking. The trend of gamer cases has died off, most people think they're nerdy and "too much". I will look into a similar case when I build my next comp, important to have that window.   Is it a midi tower or bigger? I right now have this one, a NZXT phantom 410 and it already feels huge, even though it's labeled only as a miditower.

Yes, screw FreeSync! I do only AMD so it's G-sync for me.

About monitors, I'm so conflicted whether I should get a 16:9 or an ultrawide monitor next time. I'm thinking of the Acer XR341CK 34 inch curved (3440x1440 res), but I'm not sure. Like you say, new kings come up so fast and I too have that dream of 144Hz, but I'm not sure about 5120x2160 resolution, that seems very hard to run for years to come. But I'm glad that the technology is improving fast with monitors too, they're so nice nowadays. Nice to hear that you are so happy with an ultrawide. Hm...

Your GPU strat of "2560x1080p @ ultra settings" sounds pretty wise and really thought out. Perhaps correspondingly it's wise to think of Vega and a GPU that can at least match the Geforce GTX1080 if you plan on getting a 3440x1440 monitor like I do, what do you think?

Thanks, I did my research and sure did have a lot of fun building it

Your case is nice, NZXT is a very good company, so I'm sure it's good and of high quality. For me the colour would be too flashy and I love my 140 mm fans, but they aren't really necessary, just make better airflow and run quieter. My case is a miditower as well, but it also feels huge and weights 11 kg! Without anything in it, it's 11 kg for the case alone! But it's very sturdy, I've seen photos of people standing on it I think our cases are of similar size. I also really like that I could take out the parts where you put HDDs and optical drive (in the front), so the case is EMPTY and has insane airflow, since there's nothing between the fans and my components to block the air.

Psst! FreeSync = AMD, G-Sync = nVidia

This Acer looks like a great monitor and I have no doubt you're gonna love it. It's like the one I've got, but bigger (29" vs 34") and with higher resolution - the rest is the same, 75Hz IPS and FreeSync. The main difference is the price. My LG (LG 29UM68-P) was 4 times cheaper I think that when you're buying 34", you need at least 1440p, while 29" is fine with 1080p. The pixels per inch is fine in these instances, I wouldn't recommend 34" with 1080p. I guess it's your call. We both noticed that the new king comes every other day and pushes the technology slightly forward. I've decided that if I am to spend 1000 Euro or more on a monitor, it's going to stay with me for a longer while So I plan to spend that money, when the technology matures and reaches that magical 144Hz (I want to see why people love it so much). The 5120x2160p resolution is because my girlfriend has a 4K monitor and I like that fidelity and I think that by the time I decide to upgrade, that resolution will already be here. Nothing against the 3440x1440p Obviously, running games at that resolution at 144Hz will require a future generation of cards, but hey, that's why I've decided to futureproof the rest of my PC and go with this monitor and this GPU for now I'll upgrade the GPU and monitor together in, let's say, 2 years and I'll be fine again for quite some time.

I agree, if you want to go with 3440x1440p, I'd personally wait for Vega, Polaris probably won't cut it. Judging from what we know about Polaris, I think Vega will be perfect for that Acer, I would expect it to allow you to play 3440x1440p @ ultra settings at around 60-75 fps. And it would be awesome.

Ultrawide is the new standard for me. I work in MS Office and being able to have 3 full documents opened next to each other is a blessing for productivity! I can even fit 4 if I want to and on that Acer, you'll be able to do even more. Some games (and most youtube videos, though it's changing as well) don't fully support this resolution, but most do and even if they don't, I don't mind the black bars on the sides at all. For me there's no turning back. I was hesitating between this 21:9 75Hz IPS and a 16:9 144Hz TN monitor, and I'm happy I went with the first option.

All in all, there's no doubt in my mind, that you won't regret having that monitor. It looks like a great piece of tech and if you pair it with a Vega, you're gonna have a blast for years!
