Looking for advice - - - >

So, let me lay the scene.  My sister said her and some friends wanted to go to NYC pride... which is officially this Sunday.

There is nothing sexier than a bunch of half naked people parting in the streets so I was like hell yeah... lets go party.

Then Orlando happened and my sister starting having second thoughs.  She said she just didn't feel safe.  So, she called it off.

I felt some sort of way about this when I finally realized what actually went down.  Beyond the gun debate, it was clearly a hate crime and the intention was to make people feel unsafe expressing themselves in fear.

When I realized this, I started to get mad and was like... fuck it, I'm gonna go support these guys because I hate bullies and I don't belive in letting others scare you into not being yourself.  I explained this to my sister and at the same time I told her that I understood where she was coming from.   She called me back a few days later and said she would come if I went.

Talking to my coworker today, they told me there were afraid to fly because of terrorism... but isn't that the goal of terror attacks... to make people scared?

So, the question is: In the world we live in where danger is present and people are constantly trying to impose their beliefs on others and keep them scared what is the right approach?  Should you play it as safe as possible or do you retaliate against those who hate?  To Pride or Not to Pride

Should I go?
