| GribbleGrunger said: It's really odd how people react to the Neo. Everyone and their mother demands backwards compatibility and what we have here is the solution. Nothing changes except the fact that every game from now on is forwards and backwards compatible. That means you don't lose the use of your games as you upgrade and if you can't afford the more expensive consoles (iterations or full cycle) you can opt for the cheapest and still play all the games. The Neo is exactly what people were asking for but they didn't realise it. |
The noise on BC was about PS3 to PS4 ,and it like most BC arguments the noise is loudest at the beginning of a new cycle and then quietens down, except this time it got a second wind with MS's BC announcement, the problem with people who then started calling for or expecting Sony to follow suit was they took the bait with out looking at the facts and they are that Sony was never going to be able to follow MS's lead because of the differences between the PS3 cell architecture and PS4's X86 made it cost prohibitive, and they also wheren't worried because they knew that because of X86, BC would onwards from the PS4 be built in, so from that point on when you upgraded to PS5/6/7 your games can come with you , so no the Neo wasn't needed as a solution from a BC stand point.
