The fact is a lot of people have drifted away from Nintendo or simply prefer the offerings on rival platforms. A lot of people love military shooters, open-world sandbox games, cinematic action games, sim racers, and RPGs - many of which can't be found on Nintendo hardware. I think Nintendo makes the best games in the business, but many do not. And no amount of franchise fatigue or nostalgic yearning will convince them to invest in Nintendo. |
I think, open-world games, cinematic action games, and stuff thats popular now will get maybe go down in popularity, maybe slight spikes going up again. But its like the N64 days where platformers were very popular. Like crash bandicoot, spyro, mario 64. Banjo, and all those games. I think the popularity of a genre depends on the technology available. The latest decades it was maybe not always nintendos strong point. Because they couldnt keep up with the technology that good like the other companies could. If some sort of new technology starts to emerge that nintendo can benefit easier from than other companies than i think that would give Nintendo the upper hand. It will be interesting to see VR
