I'm not saying it couldn't be cool, but what's the point? there already are plenty of ensemble Nintendo games that involve a lot of their characters (namely Smash Bros, Mario Party, Mario Sports, etc.)
I think a better use of some of NIntendo's stronger developers would be to come up with an entirely new IP that doesn't cater to the same core Nintendo Audience. lets be honest, the NIntendo hardcore have mostly their fix- they have Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Mainline 3D Mario games, Metroid (errr well sorry about FEderation Force), Pokemon, Zelda, etc.
what Nintendo should focus on is not yet another game that their most faithful fanbase sections will love but rather an entirely new IP. Nintendo has shown at times they are fully capable of darker and more serious games.
if they were to launch a new IP with an open world, or a horror setting, or even something in the akin of an adventure game like Uncharted- thats what would push them in a more positive direction. Nintendo already dominates with their main franchises. we get it. They have some of the best designers and developers in the world, they should be taking advantage of them and trying to push harder into a genre that they do less often
