I'm sure there are plenty of people who aren't interested very much in VR at $399, but greatly interested in an upgraded PS4 for $399.  I'm one of them.  I'd rather get the Neo now, especially if it'll upscale all my games to 4K, and wait til the PSVR is $199-$249.

There will always be users like you of course.

But 2 expensive hardware being released near one another will only start to canabalise one another. unless the world really is entirely ready for both neo and VR.

Ether way, I dont think it will happen but if it happens then sure it happens.

I agree that releasing these two so close together would be a problem...if psvr wasn't intended as a niche product to start with. Neo is likely going to be billed as a premium product as well (especially going by Andrew House's comments about it) but the psvr is really only intended to get a foot in the door. Sony itself has issued a guidance of 1.5 to 2 million sales for the psvr by the end of the year, which is really small even compared to something like the Kinect, which was much cheaper but still expensive by accessory standards. The Neo is meant to supplement the OG ps4 and up its sales to 20 million combined this fiscal year, so Neo is going to be the more important product, while psvr will be for those enthusiasts who do have that kind of cash and for people interested in the novelty of the eperience.
