If everybody in America is allowed to buy a weapon, then how do you distinguish normal people from terrorists? Omar Mateen was able to do the shooting because of this law in the first place. Nobody, except police men, should have guns. Everybody with a weapon should get arrested immediately. That's how you prevent shootings. |
These topics are always about balance. After Martin Bryant did his 30 odd rampage in Tasmania, the Australian Gov did a firearms buyback scheme. It worked. However, you can't outlaw firearams. That's extreme. Bring in a stringent license system. Make it enforceable by law that people with firearams must store them in a locked secured location. Justify a reason to have one. for example, sports club, a farmer. At time of a license app, it is common sense to do a background check.
These are just simple basic ways of rational gun control.
