I looked at the gold weapons thing, and some of them look okay. D. Va's robot suit golden guns look absolutely terrible. Overall, I don't see the point, but I guess they need some kind of reward for challenge mode that fits the purely cosmetic nature of all of the other rewards.
Also, yesterday, as a rank 30, I was dropped into a game filled with people between rank 62 and 73. That was an intense game and my team still lost. I hit my damage high score of nearly 20k damage though, so that was nice. The match really highlighted what the difference of an additional 30 hours of using various heroes can make. The person playing as Lucio was especially proficient as the enemy team healer.
